Housing Resources for Students

The FAST Fund is student advocacy non-profit that deals specifically with small grants for emergency situations. Housing is more ongoing need, and these are some of our fellow community advocates who are here to help.

Provide rental and energy assistance to low income families once per year

Also provides free tax preparation services 


Milwaukee Housing Authority —414-286-5824 (809 N Broadway) 

27 locations in Milwaukee with 4,000 affordable apartments for low income adults, families, seniors, disabled, and veterans. 


Sojourner Truth House — 414-276-1911 (619 W Walnut St) 

53 bed facility focusing on domestic violence prevention with intervention services. They provide food, clothing, transportation, security, counseling,etc.

Homeless shelter for women

Safe harbor for men with short term needs. Provides meals, clothing, and programs.

They have more than one house and provide shelter for single mothers and their children. Also can provide furniture, clothing, and food for longer term needs.
