Faculty and Students Together
An economic emergency fund for MATC students
I have witnessed first-hand the benefits of the FAST Fund and have received positive feedback from nursing students. Students have expressed gratitude for the opportunity and have been able to move forward in the nursing program. I have observed students succeed in accomplishing their goals of becoming a nurse. I am hopeful the FAST Fund will continue to grow and meet the needs of many well-deserved students at MATC.
HUMAN SERVICES INSTRUCTOR
The Fast Fund has been a gift to many of our students not only in the Human Services program but to MATC students in general. It has provided that needed bridge to allow students to remain in school versus leaving because they didn’t have the money to pay their rent or pay for their car to be fixed. Fast Fund has provided the help when needed allowing students to retain dignity without making them feel like they are asking for a handout.
Honestly, I don't know where to begin when it comes to expressing how much I appreciate the Fast Fund. In my role as a Pathway Advisor, I've interacted with many students who were faced with financial challenges unaware of what the next day brings. With my knowledge of the Fast Fund resource, I was able to connect them with understanding and empathetic individuals that exhausted all measures to support the student with their financial needs. I will always give my highest praise to the Fast Fund and will continue to advocate this resource for our students. Keep up the amazing work you do!
LEAD FACULTY EDUCATION
MATC VETERANS SPECIALIST
The fast fund is a crucial part of the success of many of our students! With my experience as the MATC Dreamkeepers administrator, I work closely with Dr. Rosen and the FAST Fund Fund. Collaborating with the FAST Fund Fund has led to many students continuing their education and completing their educational goals here at MATC. The support that the FAST Fund provides is extremely beneficial to our students.
Thank you to the MATC Fast Fund! In the Spring, 2020 semester we were working with a student anticipating graduation in the Spring semester...and suddenly the student had several family members hospitalized with Covid-19 and one family member succumb. While the student was juggling caring for family (spouse, children, aging parents), managing a household, and attempting to graduate, life became overwhelming. Without hesitation the FAST Fund said, 'let us help', with financial assistance that conveyed not only monetary support but an academic home where students come first. This semester MATC has a proud new graduate! Thank you, FAST Fund!
